Opening Day!! (Well, more like home opener)

The Braves home opener is in exactly 15 hours and I’m so stoked to be back at the Ted! I’m so glad I get to see Chipper’s last opening day in person. I’m, not sure if it’ll top seeing him get his 2,500th hit though, which was off Cliff Lee I might add; one of the nastiest pitchers I’ve ever had the privilege to see pitch in person. Gaaah I can’t wait to get back to the 3 Bs: Beer, Burgers, and Baseball. GO BRAVES!!!

Is what a ballplayer should look like. High socks and stirrups. Let’s bring it back Chip

My baseball withdrawals are getting so bad I’d even watch a Spring Training game.. FWAAAHHHH Why can’t it be baseball season yet?!

Prado for Delmon Young? I can dig it

With Hanson and JJ (assuming he’s a Brave next year) having repetitive health issues and Huddy only getting older (he’ll still be of ace caliber in 2012) I’m going to go ahead and say that Beachy will be our Ace by 2012’s end if he can stay healthy and log enough innings. Go Braves

Damnit I’m already starting to get withdrawals from not being able to watch my Bravos :/ I’m gonna miss watching my 2 favorite Braves pitch. Medlen uses his change up so well and I hope he gets a shot to crack the rotation again. He was definitely more than effective in the 5 spot before he blew his arm out

Baseball quotes

Some goods ones I found on the interweb

A hot dog at the ballgame beats roast beef at the Ritz.  ~Humphrey Bogart

What is both surprising and delightful is that spectators are allowed, and even expected, to join in the vocal part of the game…. There is no reason why the field should not try to put the batsman off his stroke at the critical moment by neatly timed disparagements of his wife’s fidelity and his mother’s respectability.  ~George Bernard Shaw

Trying to sneak a pitch past Hank Aaron is like trying to sneak a sunrise past a rooster.  ~Attributed to both Joe Adcock and Curt Simmons

You can’t sit on a lead and run a few plays into the line and just kill the clock.  You’ve got to throw the ball over the goddamn plate and give the other man his chance.  That’s why baseball is the greatest game of them all.  ~Earl Weaver

The greatest feeling in the world is to win a major league game.  The second-greatest feeling is to lose a major league game.  ~Chuck Tanner, quoted in The Sporting News, 15 July 1985

Progress always involves risks.  You can’t steal second base and keep your foot on first.  ~Frederick B. Wilcox

Baseball isn’t something you love for a day or a week or a year, it’s something you love for a lifetime. It doesn’t end with the season, it becomes part of you and it lasts forever and if it doesn’t, then you never really loved it to begin with.

It infuriates me to no end

To see people receive chance after chance and continually throw it away when there are those out there who would give up everything for just one

On a more positive note, Justin Verlander is a boss. Go Tigers! Fuck the Yankees!!

The playoffs

Aren’t the same without the Braves and it hurts to watch them :/
